How do I remove photos and attachments that are left in my email folders even after I delete the email?

Also I would like to save some of them to my computer but I can't figure out how.

Just click the attachment,scan and save it to your computer.if there is some photo,then right click your mouse,one option will come,save to computer,click it and choose the location where you would like to save and click ok.it will save to your computer.
